Julie Jay

Julie has always had a camera in her hand. This goes way back when you had to insert the roll of film into a camera and then wait for days for the prints, only to have two that were good. Yep the good ole days right? Well, it’s a new chapter in photography and she's all in! Julie started getting into actual photography during the 90’s with her kids. She would photograph family and high school seniors along with sporting events. At some point, she took some classes at her local college and really began to challenge herself. Immersing herself in the creative world of photoshop and composites, she began to do some really fun and creative portraits.
She decided to start her journey to becoming a wildlife photographer in 2018. Little did she know how much it would impact her life. It became her therapy, her exercise and she discovered how much an animal would “bring her back to life”. She is so blessed to be able to travel to some amazing places to see and photograph wildlife. Last year, Julie was asked to put up a show at the college where she had once taken classes as an adult. She said yes because who doesn’t want to show off their work and share it with others! She began going through her many, many images and trying to come up with a concept. While looking for the perfect images, she could see how much she had grown with her wildlife photography, and she felt really proud of herself. She was so grateful for the love and support from her husband, family and friends. Her show “ON THE EDGE OF URBAN” hung in the gallery for 6 months and each time she stopped in, the memories of catching those moments flooded back. She doesn't know her future but will go out into the wild and find herself.
